good news comes in threes

Well, I'm wiped!! Went skiing today with Aunt John & Uncle Laura. They wanted to see how Ethan was doing on skis after they gave him lessons for Christmas. We were all really impressed with his progress. He's doing a few more turns and slowing himself down a lot more, which was needed! He actually did 2 full runs without any wipeouts! You could definitely see it in his skiing when he got tired though - we knew when to call it a day. It was a great day for it - the temp was around 10 so we actually had to start removing clothing fairly early! What a great way to ski!! Just gonna hang out tonight and get ready for my big day tomorrow. I am starting my new job at the carpentry shop next door to Howie's work. Unfortunately we can't carpool because they're going to accomodate my hours with Ethan. I'll be able to go in after I drop him off and get off in time to pick him up. Not sure I'm going to enjoy working there but it's a good start and you never know till you try... Finally, my third bit. Tomorrow is the day we've been waiting for. We got the tickets months ago & it's been a tough wait! Tomorrow the HABS are gonna trounce the Flames & I'm gonna be there in all my HABS wear to show them my support. GO HABS GO!!!!

so many ideas, so little time

It's amazing how quick projects can be when you have the space, time & energy to do them. I saw this project in a magazine several months ago & loved it. I scoured 3 different scrapbook stores for the dino paper - nothing! I bought a green, glittery paper & made a frame for my bro for Christmas! It turned out ok, but I still loved this one more. A few weeks ago I was in my new fave scrapbook store - unfortunately even further away from home - and lo & behold, there it was! I couldn't leave it there!! I'm thrilled with the result. It's so cute!! I've really been getting into the chipboard & altered objects recently. Means I've been falling behind on my card projects though. Oops! On a more personal note, I spent all day yesterday at Ethan's school. They had a festival to celebrate Quebec's Carnival. Bonhomme arrived mid day & the kids were just thrilled. They did crafts & games - everyone had a great time. At 3 o'clock the assembly ended & I thought I would go home for a while - realized I only had 30 min & copped a nap in the van! I was exhausted!! Gotta get a job - preferably at someplace where naps are encouraged!

Fun with Metal

Hate to start with "I'm so excited" again, but... I am!! I recently saw some cards made using pipe wrapping aluminum tape in a magazine and as usual I thought to myself that someday I would LOVE to try that technique! I gotta be honest, I rarely do! How nice it is to live with someone who actually knows what the stuff is! Saves me that horrifying trip to the boy's toy store. Would much rather spend my time in a scrapbooking store anyday! So, we pick up some of the stuff and it is SO easy to use! I attached it to some paper & ran a ton of it through my Cuttlebug. I have a pile of samples to add into my next few hundred card designs - those of you with birthdays coming up can be expecting that metal look on your cards. As for more personal news, Howie & I got a nice, quiet breakfast for 2 yesterday morning, which was nice. Then we got to do our errands in peace before we picked Ethan up from his birthday party for an evening of movies & games! It was a great day!

I'm a new blogger!!

I'm so excited!! Can't quite believe I'm doing this & not exactly sure what to say at this point. I've been reading other blogs and thinking about how cool they are - who knew they were this easy! My plan is to use this medium to keep my family & friends up-to-date on my day to day doings. I keep hearing about how bad I am at keeping in touch with everyone, so hopefully this will help. Ethan has a birthday party to go to today & I've been thinking about what to do with myself while he's gone. Since Howie's working & I'll be alone with the kitties, I might spend my free 4 hours scrapbooking! I'm going to have plenty of free time this weekend as Ethan has 2 parties booked this weekend alone. I'm gonna love the free time, but not the expense. Well, I'm off to drop him off & get this party started.
